About Ethiopian Schools Project

We are a Seattle-based nonprofit partnering with communities in Ethiopia to strengthen education through practical, locally-led projects.

Founder story & history

Founded in 2002, Ethiopian Schools Project began with a simple idea: practical support—books, classrooms, and materials—can meaningfully improve a student’s chance to learn and succeed. Over time, the organization has grown through community partnerships and supporters who believe education is the most durable path to opportunity.

Our mission

To expand access to quality education by supporting literacy, improving learning spaces, and removing barriers that keep students from school.

How we work

  • Community partnership: local stakeholders shape priorities and scope
  • Practical delivery: durable improvements that can be maintained locally
